Secretary/Treasurer’s Report

-          Minutes read and approved.  Motion

Communications:

-          Duane Arnold on Sunday 23Aug09, leave fire station at 11:30.  Need to bring photo id and not wear polyester.  Lunch will be provided.  Go to support vendor building.

Committees:

-          2010 Dance committee: 

-          Pioneer days:  Sue will be having an outside dance on Saturday of Pioneer days.  Would like the fire department to set up the fence.  Would like to do Friday night, but will have to check with the city.  Need to get four wheeler permits. 

-          Sign Committee:  Sign coming to look at.

Old Business:

-          Building Grant is still in limbo.  The air station grant has made it through the second round.

-          Generator will be moved to the concrete pad sometime.

-          County meeting went well.

-          Make sure all of the doors are closed and lights are off.

Applications:

-  J. Westendorf (Fire Cadet), See new business.

New Business:

-          October 14^th (Wednesday) Duane Arnold walk-through at the fair grounds.  Next one will be a FEMA year and be held in May.

-          EMT-B class on Mondays and Wednesdays at the LeGrand fire station.

-          Cita-Kirkwood fire school Sept 26 & 27^th.  If anyone is registered need to get info in so the city can pay for the training.  Course number, SS# and your name to Cheryl so she can take care of it.

-          Contact B. Vokoun for cleaning supplies and different forms of lubricants.  He might be able to get it.

-          Fire Cadet program.  Where kids 16 years and older can be a Jr. Firefighter.  Melbourne is currently implementing this program.  We have an interested person in this (J. Westendorf).  Rex Kozak from the East Marshall High School would support this.  The E-board has brought this to the fire department general body for discussion.       Questions:

o        Interview for Fire Cadet?

o        What happens when the person turns 18.  Would they have to interview for a full time?

o        How many should we do if interested?

o        Rules?

-          Motion to have a Fire Cadet program, B. Vokoun, B. Mauseth 2^nd.  All in favor.

-          When we elect a fire chief, how do we want decide who the officers are.  Chief could appoint officers or do we want to elect all officers.  Motion to have the Fire Chief appoint all of the officers, J. Weitzell, B Weitzell  2^nd.  All in favor.
