Youth/Young Adult Mass:  Upon consultation with the priests of the Decorah Deanery, St. Benedict Parish, Decorah, will host a Sunday Evening Mass at 5:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 13 and ending on May 15.  It is an effort to get our young people from the local and surrounding parishes more engaged in their Catholic faith by providing a Mass time that may be more suitable to their lifestyle and schedule.  This is a trial period that will be subject to evaluation at the end of its run.  Although this is a public Mass open to all Catholics, the intention is to accommodate and engage our young people from the ages of high school, college and young adulthood.  Please join us.

Hawk-i Insurance  If you or someone you know has children with no health insurance coverage, we encourage you to consider enrolling hawk-i or Medicaid.  These two programs are offered by the State of Iowa.  There are many families who are eligible for these programs, but they are either unaware of the programs or assume they earn too much money to qualify.  In these days of rising costs for gasoline, food and other household expenses, don’t overlook the importance of having health care coverage for your kids.  For complete eligibility requirements, pick up an application (available in front entrance of church), visit www.hawk-i.org or call 800 257-8563 to find out about signing up for free health insurance for children in Iowa or coverage as low as $20.00 a month.  Our goal is to help the children to get the healthcare coverage they need.

                                         Thoughts to ponder. . .
Virtues of the Disciple & Christian Steward:
                                                 Simplicity

“Live simply so that others may simply live”   Mother Teresa
Embracing a simpler lifestyle enables us to live more generously.  Simple living is also the antidote for “affluenza,” the social disease caused by rampant consumerism and materialism.
A Prayer for Simplicity:  Lord, grant me the grace to be free from the excesses of this life.  Let me not get caught up with the desire for wealth.  Keep my heart and mind free to love and serve you.  Amen.
