Yes, Mariah is now part of my family to be a new stablemate with Fancy.  She arrived on January 15th 2005 midday. It was fairly cold (about 2F) and yet even with a good amount of snow on the ground she managed to find something to chew on! Meanwhile Fancy did not chase her but followed her. Fancy seemed to remember an older horsey friend from about a year ago and acted so mysteriously.  I just wanted to share with you that before Mariah climbed that hill, surprisingly she paused with Fancy and both stood directly over where Suzy Mare was laid to rest last year, both just stood there for a moment and both of them relaxed their necks with their heads down.  They stood like that for several minutes before Mariah began climbing that same hill that Suzy did a year ago (Suzy's last time up the hill) as Fancy stayed below.

It was almost like Suzy's spirit was passed on to Mariah at that moment. You had to be here to experience that moment. I emotionally could only look at those two, it's an image I will always remember eventhough I just stood and witnessed it as I did not want to distract them by trying to line a picture with my camera and disturb what was happening. It was beautiful.

And so is Mariah. She is a registered Morgan Filly who has already won blue ribbons in halter class at local horseshows including the Nebraska State Fair. I hope to have her trained to ride under saddle and plan to show her in 2005, not to mention to enjoy lots of quality time with her riding in the beautiful Loess Hills of Iowa. I think that in addition to being a good horse at show, she will be an excellent trail horse and of course become my bestest friend. She will never be Suzy who left me last year about this time after 19 years of being together but she sure will become my friend to carry on my love of horses along with Fancy, who herself has given me such support and companionship after the loss of Suzy last January.

Friends, this has been a very emotional year for me accepting the loss of my Suzy. I can only hope that by going forward with Mariah that I will experience a peaceful easy feeling that will put some kind of closure on my grief of losing her.

I am so happy I can share my emotions with you as my friends. They say it is good to share your true feelings with your friends, and so I do.

So I have shared Mariah's first moments here with you.  I would hope you would share this email with your other friends, especially those who may have lost their best friend over the past year, as I have only truly now realized peace and hope in sharing my new baby with you, my friends.  Life Goes On!  Again thanks for listening.
